Job Summary General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a provider of military and commercial engineering services. GA-SI is a leading-edge expert in systems integration technologies, reliability improvements, and controls system design.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs structural analysis of components, assemblies and sub-systems to evaluate structural deflections and stresses.
  • Applies knowledge of strength of materials, rigid body dynamics, finite element analysis, fatigue, and material attributes (stress-strain, design allowables, and fatigue/fracture characteristics) to develop solution approaches and solve structural analysis problems.
  • Utilizes past experience with solid modeling software (such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, Pro/Engineer, or NX), finite element analysis (such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or Nastran / Patran), and engineering computer programs (MATLAB, Mathcad) to complete structural analysis.
  • Coordinates with engineering staff to set up analysis problems, test plans, identify critical structural design features, complete analysis, and provide design feedback to engineering staff.
  • Documents analyses findings, communicates results to engineering staff and makes technical presentations as required.
  • May represent the organization in providing solutions to technical structural analyses issues associated with GA-SI projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
  • Ability to obtain DOD secret clearance
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • A Professional Engineering License is desirable.

Salary:$73,650 - $128,663
