Job Summary General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS’ expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Software Integration and Test Engineer to join our team located in Englewood, CO.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Primarily responsible for integration and test of Satellite Flight Software using hardware in the loop simulation tools or space vehicle simulators. May additionally support satellite or system level test activities.
• Develops test configurations, plans and procedures to ensure SW requirements are met.
• Develop and promote satellite assembly, integration and test flows that include the introduction of new concepts and approaches.
• Test and troubleshoot complex electronics systems from the component level to the system functionality level.
• Test and debug, utilizing knowledge of a design with standard lab equipment to troubleshoot issues that occur during test to ensure quality final product.
• Support resolution of hardware/software interface problems, define input/output parameters, and ensure integration of the entire system or subsystem.
• Design and implement test fixtures, including test plans for both board and system level environments
• Ensures configuration of hardware simulation tools is maintained.
• Writes Discrepancy reports to document SW defects
• Supports design of new space systems including: requirement development, conduct of design reviews, verification and test support
• Responsible for providing status on development tasks, supporting development of program schedules.
• Supports operation of engineering systems by evaluating and interpreting needs and problems and develops effective approaches to resolving those issues.
• Troubleshoots, analyzes, and repairs systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.
• Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.
• Directs the activities of designers, technicians and may direct the activities of less experienced professional staff.
• May represent the organization in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects.
• Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
• We offer a 9x80 work schedule where you will have every other Friday off.

Job Qualifications:

• Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree or two or more years of experience with a master's degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
• Must have prior experience as a SW test engineer, familiarity with hardware in the loop simulators is highly desirable.
• Must have prior experience writing test procedures used to verify system and subsystem requirements.
• Prior experience developing python scripts to automate test functions is desirable.
• Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
• Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
• Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
• The ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance is required. Active Secret clearance is desired.
