Job Summary GA’s Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group focuses on the military and commercial applications of advanced electromagnetic technologies, including power generation and distribution, magnetic levitation, laser and weapons systems, and systems design and engineering. The EMS Group supports government customers, which include the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, the Department of Transportation as well as a range of commercial customers.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Technician in the Test Engineering Department in our Tupelo, MS location supporting our Electromagnetic Systems Group!
The ideal candidate will assist with modification, fabrication, assembly, operations, installation, repair and maintenance of general laboratory, experimental and commercial equipment; assists in set up and may conduct routine experiments and tests; records data.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under close supervision with detailed instructions and frequent review:
- Applies technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned engineering problems.
- Performs functional testing and troubleshooting of equipment and systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.
- Utilize test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, etc.
- Create and update test procedures. Obtains and analyzes test data.
- Support the development of concepts and plans for test programs.
- Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions. May be required to make brief technical presentations.
- Assist in troubleshooting of test issues as needed and interpret collected data for preparation and creation of test reports.
- May provide direction to design and/or technical staff. May set up and check out routine experiments and tests according to pre-arranged procedures, records experimental data.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Help maintain work area in an orderly condition by returning tools, equipment and materials to storage areas.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
- Move material and stage for production.
- Utilize a forklift, Pallet Jack, Crane, etc.
- Clean/prepare equipment for production use and/or clean post-production use
- Remove Trash/SCRAP when needed.
- Assemble/Disassemble/Fabricate varying types of products.
- Learn Machine Operations to support production.
- Winders, Blast Booth, Sprayers, Test Equipment, Robotics, etc.
Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires associate's degree or equivalent with two or more years of experience.
- Must be able to work with common hand tools.
- Must be able to perform a variety of routine tasks and demonstrate a good working knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures.
- Ability and willingness to work on systems which have unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, cryogens, or radioactive materials.
- Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field required.
Salary:$47,250 - $70,238
