Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Technical Fellow to join our Software Development team in Poway, CA.

This position reports to a senior executive and is a top software technical individual contributor in an
organization which performs leading-edge technological investigation for the purpose of acquiring and using new knowledge. Oversees applied research or advanced computer science in the development of
new products, tools, or processes. Directs and coordinates activities necessary to complete major
projects, requiring a wide variety of technical skills. Consults with and provides guidance to senior
management and several departments on advanced computer science issues. Makes recommendations
at a critical level where erroneous decisions could have a long-term negative effect on the organization's
reputation and business posture. A high- level individual thinker, this position serves as a recognized
technical authority in computer science within an organization and is recognized within the
science/engineering community as an expert within software development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conceptualize and articulate innovative solutions to the highest technical and complex computer science problems to accomplish long-range objectives.
  • Consult with top corporate and business management on long-range company planning concerning new or projected areas of computer science research and advancements.
  • Anticipate and report on future technical challenges that will directly impact current and future business objectives for the organization.
  • Function in an advisory or leadership role for successful implementation of computer science solutions including strategic objectives, timetables, and the allocation of resources to achieve objectives.
  • Effectively counsel, mentor and transfer specialized computer science knowledge of the highest level and complexity to junior scientific and technical staff.
  • Act as the primary spokesperson on the company's software development capabilities and future direction and is often instrumental in attracting and attaining major new company business.
  • Oversee the development of and ensure the security of the unit's proprietary technology and maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Additional functions other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Requires a Masters or PhD degree in computer engineering, computer science or related technical field.
  • Typically has at least twenty years of engineering or scientific experience.
  • This is a key position recognized as an expert within computer science with extensive complex technical experience.
  • Must demonstrate detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of computer science principles, concepts, theory, and practice.
  • Typically, the incumbent has achieved prominence in one or more computer science areas in which the organization specializes.
  • Must possess the ability to resolve unusually complex technical problems while serving as a spokesperson on computer science projects.
  • Must be able to acquire DOD clearance to the TS-SCI level
  • Skilled in technology development, planning and execution of technology programs and internal research and development, capture of new technology business, and transitioning of advanced technology to deliverable products
