Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity in Poway, California for a Systems Engineering Supervisor with a strong systems engineering and integration background to lead a team of systems engineers in addition to supporting systems engineering needs on programs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Will provide supervisory leadership and technical direction to a team of Systems Engineers, overseeing output for consistency and accuracy.
  • Will work with program leads and management to ensure programs are properly staffed for systems engineering execution.
  • Will be responsible for the development, engagement, and retention of systems engineering talent.
  • Will be responsible for team member performance reviews and performance management.
  • Assure that internal and external customer needs are identified and addressed by team within expected budget and timelines.
  • Participates in and contributes to direct project scope and deliverables
  • Develops innovative and practical solutions to technical problems in engineering.
  • Presents at engineering meetings, participates in program reviews and consults on engineering problems.
  • Anticipates future engineering needs and the adjustments required to accomplish business goals.
  • Will have a thorough understanding of the system, subsystems and components, to include all internal/external interfaces and become a focal point for system knowledge on programs.
  • Will work on a wide range of products from Command/Control to Payloads to Exploitation systems, and work with a wide range of highly talented people from many technical disciplines.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; Nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
  • Must be able to lead a team of systems engineers through fundamental engineering best practices, such as, but not limited to, top-down requirement decomposition, design development, trade studies, system/software/hardware architecture development and technical reviews.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals.
  • Capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.

Salary:$105,890 - $189,545
